When RADISH met... Kathryn Zahorak
We met our kindred spirit Kathryn when over in Los Angeles earlier this year. She’s an actress, writer, photographer and has a seriously impelling blog and Instagram feed. ‘Carry thy self with confidence, openness, intelligence, and spunk’. If you’re keen to learn more about photography or looking at upgrading your camera equipment then be sure to read up on her tips and find out what camera she uses here.
We’re always so inspired by women chasing the sunlight, drumming to their own beat…
Can you tell us a bit about you and what you’re up to at the moment?
Hi Radish! My name is Kathryn. I am an actress, fashion blogger and photographer based in sunny Los Angeles. Everyday looks different for me. Memorizing lines. Styling looks. Art directing for a brand. Learning to be my own boss has been one of the most rewarding and challenging aspects of my 20's.
You have such a zest for life. What inspires you in your everyday?
Los Angeles. I fell in love with this city over seven years ago. The palm trees, the traffic, the mid-century architecture. It is home and a main source of my inspiration. It is a city that attracts 'dreamers'. I would rather be surrounded by crazy people chasing after their dreams, than people who never took the risk at all. It's a special part of this wacky city.
Who are you listening to on Spotify at the moment?
All out 70's right now. Elton John, Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Wonder, Carole King etc. There's something about summer, that makes me turn on the oldies.
Are you planning any wanderlust trips away this year?
This September I am flying out to the east coast for New York Fashion week. If I wasn't living in LA, I would be NYC. There’s a pace to the city that fits my personality more. It always brings me this surge of inspiration, and realigns me to my goals. The clothing, the food, the busy streets. I wish the flight was shorter…
We love to see you in RADISH. Do you have a favourite piece from the collection, and why?
All the RADISH prints make me so happy. I am currently digging the Joan dress. Major vintage vibes. It feels like Palm Springs in a way.
What’s the most important piece of advice you have been given?
Be unapologetic about the person you are, and the value you add to the world. Wildly go after what you want. There's no reason to cut yourself down, because if you do so will everyone else.
Can you share your tips on where to eat, sleep and shop in California?
I've lived in California most of my life. In Los Angeles I am all about the east side. Take a walk around Echo Park lake. Grab tacos at Guisados. Coffee at intelligentsia. Take a drive up to Griffith Observatory. There's so much history in LA that people don't even notice.
